Modestman is just over a mile away from Keene Ice. The super close proximity makes it an excellent option for a stop before or after a game. MM opened in Nov.'19 ...they haven't even finished the signage in the front of the building as we almost drove past the place. They are located on one of the main streets of Keene so great shopping and food options if not everyone in your party wants to join you in trying tasty beer.
Walking inside you find the brewery welcoming, modern and clean. We like how you can see all the brewing equipment but it's separate from the tasting area. They have a decent size patio area with well spaced out tables/benches. There was a great food truck that went hand-in-hand with the quality of the beer. It seems the Guru Truck is a stable here as they're listed on MM's website...the Peking Nachos were delicious.
The staff was excellent. Very enthusiastic and informative. They only had 5 beers on draught but were happy to walk us through them and provided a few samples. Was really a nice experience. This continued with patrons as we had a few nice chats. Turns out we missed a very special beer everyone was raving about - Sun Rises in the East (7% NEIPA)...this one sounds worth seeking out. They did have Center Of Attention Mega (DIPA 8.5%) which was very good. Many others were enjoying Rassination (Berliner Weisse 4%), perfect for hot summer days. We were able to sample their Imperial Sour - Boysenberry, Black and Red Allover (B.A.R.A. HARD) which we just couldn't leave without buying a 4 pk.
Overall this place is just too convenient to not be the top option if you are playing at Keene Ice. Great for the individuals, families or small groups. Enjoy with tasty beers, good food options in a nice environment with friendly staff.
