Hackensack Brewing Company opened in 2019 and it is off to a fantastic start. The place has the perfect brewery balance of being about the beer and creating a pleasing environment to enjoy the beer. Please check out the BOM writeup for more info.
Overall we are exceptionally pleased with the wide variety of beers HBC offers at a very high quality level. Most breweries which offer so many different styles of beer always have a few "fillers" in their lineup, not HBC. Every beer is good to great and a great place to visit for a group with varying style favorites.
The location is very convenient should you be visiting the Ice House in Hackensack. However parking is a little tricky, plus you need to look for the small black and white sign "78 Johnson Ave") to find the driveway. Otherwise you can park legally on the street and walk there...if so, we recommend parking just north of HBC and then you can easily walk to Alementary to check out another brewery.
HBC is family friendly, they have a bunch of board games to entertain kids and adults plus cornhole in the brewery room. They don't offer food (NJ law) but allow deliveries or BYOF. They do offer bowls of pretzels which is great to breakup the beers when sampling a flight (flight of 4 - $10)
The staff is very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. They just get it. They are happy to share all the nuances of their beer if that interests you or let you enjoy your beer in a relaxed atmosphere if that's what you prefer.
In short, HBC created the beer and the place for anyone to have a great tasting experience. Try a flight and take home a few of your favorites.
