BDB Rating 87

Yes Genesee Brew House rated an 87, we were surprised too. We had a few people skip this place as they didn't think it was a true "craft" establishment. Yet this place has mass appeal. Those that went, loved that is was next to the brewery and filled with history. The first floor has a large shop/museum with the history of Genesee and their legacy beers over the years. In the back, there's a small tasting room right next to what appears to be the experimental brewing equipment....This area is called "The Pilot Brewery". Upstairs is a large dining area with a long bar to one side. We were able to get flights and were pleasantly surprised with the options. I guess our expectations weren't high as we really enjoyed the Dry Hopped Mosaic Cream Ale and the Schwarzbier but found it fun to compare them to the old signature beers like Genesee Cream Ale. Additionally we found the food menu selection to be extensive and not just filled with bar food. There was something for everyone and everything was enjoyed by the group.
We appreciated the knowledgeable staff whom brought us many other samples outside our flights. Next time we will plan our visit over the summer with the hope to sit on the patio or roof. Probably the best view in Rochester.
So, check out this place; great food options, fun establishment and you too may be pleasantly surprised by the beer.
